We have developed an
Accusump 2 quart pre-oiler system for the 86-7 Turbo Regals using stock
location intercoolers. DUE TO WHERE THE
ACCUSUMP MOUNTS, THIS KIT WILL NOT WORK WITH FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLERS.. This kit includes ALL needed items for a complete
installation. No need to shop all over the place to get the proper
fittings, adapters, hoses, check valves, brackets, etc. The price is not
cheap but this is great insurance that your motor will never see a dry
start again. We have done all the head scratching on how to plumb
and mount the accusump to make it easier for you the customer to
install. We are also offering just
a basic kit without any fittings, adapters or hoses if you choose to use
a different type of hose or fittings. The
Accusump, the original automotive oil accumulator, is designed to
provide the engine with oil pressure before the starter is even engaged.
An Accusump is a cylinder shaped aluminum storage container that acts as
a reservoir of pressurized oil, to be released when there is a drop in
the oil pressure.
The Accusump is connected to the pressure side of an engine's oiling
system and is charged by the engines own oil pump. Its simple, efficient
design revolves around a hydraulic piston separating an air pre-charge
side and the oil reservoir side.
On the oil side of the Accusump it has an outlet that goes into the
engine's oiling system, controlled by a valve. On the air side it's
equipped with a pressure gauge and a Schrader air pre-load valve.
On initial start-up when the valve on the
oil side is opened the pressurized oil is released into the engine and
therefore pre-lubricating the engine prior to start-up.
The Accusump holds whatever oil pressure the engine has at the time that
it is shut off. After the engine is started and the oil pump has taken
over, oil is pumped back into the Accusump. This moves the piston back
and pressurizes the Accusump until it equalizes with engine's oil
pressure.
While driving, if the engine's oil pressure is interrupted for any
reason, the Accusump releases its oil reserve again, keeping the engine
lubricated until the engine's oil pressure comes back to normal. This
release of oil could last from 15 to 60 seconds, depending on the size
and speed of the engine. In racing or hard driving conditions, the
Accusump will automatically fill and discharge when needed as you
corner, accelerate and brake.

The Accusump provides that extra margin
of protection that you need against engine damage caused by loss of oil
pressure.
Racing and high performance street engines by nature are put under a lot
of stress by the high G-load situations they are commonly placed in.
As oil in your pan sloshes about, your oil pump pickup can become
uncovered, which causes a loss of oil pressure and sets the stage for
severe engine damage.
The Accusump provides oil during these times reducing the potential for
damage

Male on run tee used in kit This fitting makes plumbing in the
check valve easier. It goes on the male pipe run.

Pushloc fittings used. I like these vs other brands as they have
a cover that goes over the connection to give a finished look.

We are offering 3 options for our Accusump Pre-Oiler
PARTIAL
KIT
Includes everything in picture below. Accusump
canister, electric valve, toggle switch, wire, canister brackets and aluminum
mounting bars/hardware.
It would be up to you to plumb the accusump to your liking.

COMPLETE
KIT
Complete kit includes the PARTIAL kit shown
above PLUS ALL necessary adapters, fittings, check valve, tee fitting,
hoses for the entire installation. No need to go shopping for other
parts. The only things YOU need to supply is teflon tape and whatever
wiring connectors you choose to use. You might also want to upgrade to one
of our ashtray switch plates
so you have a easily accessible switch instead of mounting the included toggle
switch.
A word about the installation. Complete details
will be included with the kit but here is a quick lowdown on how to
install. The two stock oil cooler hoses are to be removed as well as the
adapters on the oil filter adapter. No need to remove the oil
filter! The mounting bars attach to the front bumper which requires two
holes thru the bumper and it's inner brace. The back holes are drilled thru
the bottom of the radiator support. No need to remove the AC condenser or
radiator.
Once Accusump is mounted, it is plumbing
time. Two special adapters are included to screw into the radiator ports,
good luck trying to find these anywhere (REAL expensive too!) Top hose is
a direct replacement once the other adapter is installed in the oil filter
adapter.
The other oil cooler hose which is the return is where
we tee the hose for the Accusump. A special tee is used that has a male
NPT run for a check valve to be plumbed in. The check valve prevents the
oil from flowing back into the oil cooler and into the oil pump. This
ensures all oil from the Accusump will go where it is needed, your
bearings!
Some words about the hose and fittings we
use. With the exception of the tee and check valve, we use black anodized
fittings with push loc -8 hose. Using these fittings and hose is less
expensive than using steel braided hose and fittings AND easier to
install. It also blends into the maze of hoses already in this area.
We are also offering the option of having us pre-assemble the hoses and fittings
for you.
