MOTOR COMPARTMENT

Motor compartment before adding the 3.5" MAF sensor and pipe

I always liked chrome so went a little crazy with the shiney stuff as you can see.

Notice the absence of the Powermaster brake system!
Here's a pic with the new LS1 MAF sensor and 3.5" MAF pipe

I'm using the Translator Plus to enable the use of the Chevy MAF sensor.

The motor in our 87 GN has only been opened up to change the rear main seal and to put on some custom Buick Motorsports valve covers.  The mileage as of 11-06  is only 26,400 so it is still fresh.  At this point it has been down the strip about 60 times or so and the best ET has been a 12.20 @ 110 mph.

Modifications are  the TA49 turbo, injectors were changed to Delphi 37lb'ers, a 2800 stall torque converter was added and an alcohol injection system was plumbed in to help eliminate knock retard and allow higher boost on pump gas.  The stock intercooler had a Duttweiller neck but was recently upgraded to a stock location polished intercooler.  I have also incorporated a 3.5" Chevy LS1 MAF sensor into my cold air intake system.  The Chevy MAF is controlled by a Translator Plus unit.  This little box is an engineering marvel and when used with an "Extender Chip"  allows you to tune fuel and timing settings.   Go to my Computer & Engine control page for more details..  A Terry Houston 3" stainless steel downpipe and  a Hooker cat back dual exhaust system with Aerochamber mufflers is what I run for an exhaust system.  I have also added and electric exhaust cutout to the dump pipe so if I want the car louder all I have to do is hit a switch.

I also installed a complete set of polished aluminum pulleys from RJC Racing Products.  The aluminum crank pulley they make is a work of art!  Not to mention that is saves about 3 lbs of rotating mass over the stock unit. I also installed what is probably the hottest modification for a reasonable price out there right now, the RJC Power Plate.  More details on this on my Throttle body mods page.
